Mountain View, California

Home of Google!

Mountain View is probably best known for being the headquarters of Google and the heart of Silicon Valley. The city has one of the most exciting downtown areas in Silicon Valley with tons of exciting restaurants, small boutiques and businesses, and cafes lining Castro Street. Both the Caltrain and the VTA Light Rail have a station downtown, making public transportation north to San Francisco or south to San Jose a breeze. If you want a breath of fresh air, Shoreline Park at the northern end of Mountain View is an amazing place to do something unique like fly a kite, or learn how to windsurf. The 750-acre park also has a golf course, a boathouse to rent paddle boats or canoes, hiking trails, and a children’s playground area.

Mountain View is predominately home to young professionals, and a large percentage of housing is made up of apartments. However, there are plenty of single-family homes and many in the much sought-after Eichler architectural style. Homes are continuing to be developed, most of them close to the downtown area and transit center areas for convenience.
